Limerick Civic Trust has twelve patrons; The Mayor of Limerick,
The Countess of Limerick, The Bishop of Limerick, The Bishop of Limerick
& Killaloe, Limerick City Manager, Limerick County Chairman,
Limerick County Manager, The President of the University of Limerick,
The C.E.O Shannon Development, The Chamber of Commerce President, Paddy Hoare and Seumas Gubbins of Limerick Civic Trust. Our patrons act in an ex-officio capacity. They are the top office holders in this region.
Their support demonstrates the bona fides, merits and credibility
of Limerick Civic Trust.
Since first established Limerick Civic Trust has received continuous
financial assistance from many state and semi state agencies, private
Trusts, The E.U., and all forms of Corporate and private sector
support. The most notable being:
 |
FÁS
Fás is the National Training and Employment Authority in
Ireland. Through its various employment training grants
Limerick Civic Trust has been able to employ an average 70 people
each year. Fás is singly the Trusts biggest sponsor
as it provides most of the manpower requirements for our current
projects. In return the Trust has completed many outstanding projects
down through the years and a significant number of our project
workers have progressed to secure full time private sector employment.
Limerick City Council
Formally known as Limerick Corporation, the Council has embraced
the Civic Trust concept and has been extremely supportive. In
addition to the annual grant the council's elected representatives
and officials have assisted and encouraged the work of Limerick
Civic Trust whenever possible.
Shannon Development
This semi state development agency for the Mid West region was
the instigator of establishing Civic Trusts in Ireland and
in particular in Limerick. Since the early 1980s Shannon
Development has financially supported and assisted the work of
Limerick Civic Trust on an ongoing basis.
Department of the
Environment
Although the Trust has received grant support from many Government
Departments, Environment always has been the one most relevant
to our range of work. An initial conservation grant allocation
of £150,000 was the little acorn, which grew
into the mighty oak tree, which in our case was the Georgian House
Restoration Project.
Calouste Gulbenkian
Foundation
For several years the Gulbenkian Foundation sponsored The
Civic Trust's Ireland Environmental Awards which were promoted
by Limerick Civic Trust. This all- Ireland awards programme was a great forum for interaction between all the civic trusts North and South.
Corporate Sponsorships
These in the main would be large once off grants or a sponsorship
in excess of €25,000. The Irish Cement sponsorship of St
Munchins Protestant Church Restoration, The Patronage from Gallaher
Dublin Ltd., The Grant from the J.P. McManus Charitable Trust,
The room sponsors for the Georgian House Project and Boart Longyears
Bishops Palace sponsorship. Each of these would be dedicated sponsorships
for specific purposes. Special recognition is also due to Beamish
and Crawford for their sponsorship of our Golf Classic for 15 years.
